Nursery planning: What I'm loving right now

We recently completed our oldest's big girl room, and are now beginning to work on our baby's nursery. The baby will be occupying what is now my daughter's former nursery. I have so many ideas floating around, but I certainly want to keep the farmhouse theme. Of course, we don't know the gender yet, so I can't do too much planning. We find out the gender in 4 weeks, and then I can plan all I want.

Here is a list of some of my favorite nurseries that I am currently crushing on. These are, of course, in no particular order.

1. Beadboard or board and batten in nurseries

This is something I definitely want. I haven't decided exactly which type of molding I want yet, but I do know if will be one of these. I love the board and batten, wall sconces and art work in this picture.

2. Patchwork/handmade quilts
I absolutely love patchwork quilts. I bought a PB Kids nursery set for my daughter's nursery four years ago, but I'm wanting something a little more original and traditional this time around. I have found many gorgeous handmade quilts on Etsy that will look cute in a nursery, but be appropriate for a toddler room, as well.

Deb---my bff cousin, if you see this, can you make one like this? Bug wants to do a red white and blue baby room...

3. Vintage artwork
What is a room in my house withOUT vintage artwork? Nonexistant. I love the idea of vintage botanical prints or maybe even planes or trains for a little boy.

Vintage Airplane Art - possible DIY with large photocopy transfers on wood panels? I love the look!

4. A really comfy, cushy chair with an ottoman
I didn't have room in Emorie's nursery at the old house to put a chair. A chair is going to make those late night feedings so much easier. Bonus points if the ottoman has storage space. Here are a few I like:
pottery barn kids - this is the rocker/lounger I got for her nursery.... Green slip cover. Her room is pink & green. With birds and owls. ----- look at the sheep nunu pie

I can't wait to show off the actual nursery- we're hoping to have it done by September, October at the absolute latest.

  1. What a joy to be planning for your newest arrival.
    When are you due?

  2. We are due November 23, which is my dad's birthday. This is important for two reasons- my dad is currently battling stage four colon cancer, and we lost a precious baby back in October. God is good :)
