Summer home tour

Welcome to our summer home tour! My summer decorating isn't very extensive, and it mainly just spans the kitchen, living room, and dining room. I loved my spring decor so much, I didn't want to take it down.

On my front porch, there is a summer themed wreath. We don't have much of a porch, and hopefully, this fall, it'll be under construction. Of course, we are flying our Old Glory.

On the sofa table inside the door, we have a jar with some sand and shells, and three large apothecary jars with sand, candles and shells. We brought in a little beach to our farmhouse :)

On our kitchen table, we have a distressed wood tray with a bowl of apples, a mason jar with some faux flowers (not my favorite, but my kiddo has allergies), and two mason jars with battery operated votives.

Our "mantle" in the dining room has two jars with sand and shells, and some colored glass. There are also faux hydrangeas and the same faux white flowers from the table.

In our kitchen, we have a white tray with blue pottery and a jar with a red ribbon. A simple vignette :)

It's here! 2014 Christmas House Tour!

I hope everyone is doing well. I have finally finished all my Christmas decorating and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. I probably did more decorating this year than ever and I love how it looks. I will be a little sad when it is time to take it down and pack it all away. Currently excluded from the tour are our master bedroom and bathroom and our nursery.

Gettin' in the Christmas Spirit: 10 holiday items I am currently coveting

I have been fighting the urge for over a week now. I usually don't decorate for Christmas until after Thanksgiving. I absolutely love the Christmas season, and I love it even more now that we have Emorie. Creating Christmas magic for a three-year-old child is more fun than I ever thought it could be.

She is currently watching the "Elf on the Shelf" movie  for about the third time this year. I am trying to hold off on my Christmas decorating for at least another two weeks, but we shall see.

I promise to do better than I have done with my fall home tour and promptly post my Christmas home tour :)

Office

When we were searching for our home, I was looking for a home with either a fourth bedroom our a bonus room to act as an office/playroom combination. When we found our house, I was stoked to find out it had two bonus rooms. We have our playroom and an office, and the best part is, we don't have to share the space!

Playroom organization

My daughter's playroom is one of my favorite rooms in our house.  It is one of our two bonus rooms, and there are windows in the wall so you can see into our office. This is especially handy when E is playing in her playroom and I am working in the office.

We purchased one of the cube shelves you see here. We already owned one of them, as we used it in her closet at the old house.

Linen closet overhaul- DIY

My linen closet was a source of great frustration in our home. It was built, I suspect, as an overflow space for the two master bedroom closets. I believe this because it contained two main shelves, two removable rods and a tall cubby shelf off to one side. Usable space was plentiful, but the way the closet was installed, most of that space was generously wasted. I had only two shelves to stack my towels, which were constantly falling into the floor each time you opened the door...which meant more washing for me. Something had to be done.

I honestly wish I'd thought to take a before picture, but I honestly forgot. This picture was taken shortly after the shelves were installed, but pre-paint. You can't see the cubby shelves from this angle.
